RingCentral
Telephony integration
Yes. Obsidian imports recorded RingCentral calls and files each one as a transcribed meeting, linked to the matching client.
What the RingCentral integration does
The RingCentral integration brings your firm's recorded phone calls into Obsidian. Each recorded call becomes a meeting with a transcript and summary, filed under the adviser who took it and linked to the client whose number it was. If the call happened during a meeting you had already booked with that client, the recording joins that meeting instead of creating a new one. Nobody has to download or upload recordings by hand.
What advisers can do
-
Call recordings
Recorded calls become transcribed, summarised meetings.
-
Client matching
Calls are linked to the client whose phone number it was, under the adviser who took the call.
How it works
A RingCentral admin at your firm connects the account once, for the whole firm. Every 15 minutes Obsidian checks your company call log for new recordings, with read-only access. Each recording is matched to an adviser by their RingCentral extension's email, and to a client by the other party's phone number. It is then transcribed and summarised like any other meeting. Calls shorter than a minute and internal calls are skipped. Calls from a number that matches no client are still filed, named after the number, so the adviser can link the client by hand. On the first connection, Obsidian imports the last 30 days of recordings. Automatic call recording requires a RingCentral plan that includes it.
How to connect
- 1
Go to Playbook → Apps in Obsidian. Only firm admins can connect RingCentral.
- 2
Find RingCentral and click Connect.
- 3
Sign in with a RingCentral admin account and authorise read-only access to the call log and recordings.
- 4
Turn on Call recordings. Recorded calls from the last 30 days, and every new one, are filed as meetings.

A RingCentral admin, once, for the whole firm. Firm-wide access to the call log needs an admin login. A connection made with a standard user login shows an error rather than silently filing nothing.
